Bass Ergonomics

I’ve finally prevailed on my brother Mike to write a guest post.

Because it looks so much better in full width I’ve uploaded it here, as a page in a new section of this blog called ‘Mike’s stuff’.

It should appeal particularly to those with an interest in bass guitar and double bass design, as well as bass players and musical instrument makers.

But, if you’re none of those things (and anything like me), you’ll simply marvel at Mike’s capacity to build such sophisticated instruments at home, out of recycled materials with basic hand tools and at minimum cost.

  1. I really enjoyed this article. I was pondering the various shapes of bass guitars and why they were shaped the way they are and this article answered some of my questions regarding form following function. Thank you.
